When Runar Jonsson, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 10 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Tor-Henrik Sørvik was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. If Alf-Inge Breistein had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. If Daniel Vaage had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Alf-Inge Breistein in the 19th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Alexander Knutsen saved Jan Mayen FK from getting behind. Alexander Knutsen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alf-Inge Breistein, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Daniel Vaage fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alexander Knutsen having to interfere. Runar Jonsson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tor-Henrik Sørvik having to interfere. After 32 played minutes Jan Mayen FK got a freekick which was hit by Ulf-Hendrik Ånestad. Daniel Vaage recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 43rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Daniel Vaage had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Alf-Inge Breistein made a kick off. Halden IL's Tor-Henrik Sørvik played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Runar Jonsson in the 55th minute of play. The supporters of Jan Mayen FK booed when Halden IL was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fredrik Synnes didn't get a good kick on the ball. 59 minutes had been played when some careless play by Halden IL's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Birger Stadheim was slow to take the kick. During this time Jan Mayen FK's players had a chance to rest. After taking down the ball on Jan Mayen FK's corner Birger Stadheim fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Tor-Henrik Sørvik quite easily take care of the ball. Alf-Inge Breistein struck a weak shot in the 66th minute. Alexander Knutsen didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Halden IL. Steinar Dramstad received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 71st minute. Tor-Henrik Sørvik tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Tor-Henrik Sørvik showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Runar Jonsson in the 73rd minute of the match. Halden IL's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
