An unexpectedly hard shot by Cato Brunborg in the 5th minute of play forced Galatasaray's goalkeeper Sever Mandache to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A sloppy throw-in by Bård Lilletvedt in the 34th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Galatasaray's Sigurd Espenes. If Sigurd Espenes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 39th minute, Galatasaray's Åge Brænden dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. The supporters of Galatasaray booed when Rekvik was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cato Brunborg didn't get a good kick on the ball. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The wind increased when Åge Brænden made the kick off in the second half. Bård Lilletvedt kicked well hit freekick during the 52nd minute of the match. Åge Brænden struck a weak shot in the 53rd minute. Ståle Ervik didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Galatasaray. Sever Mandache showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Snorre Rakvåg, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. Sever Mandache made an important save on a dangerous shot by Henrik Buvik in the 67th minute. Galatasaray's Sever Mandache played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cato Brunborg in the 77th minute of play. A collision led to Rekvik getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Snorre Rakvåg hit a great ball. 80 minutes into the match, Henrik Buvik had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Sever Mandache. Galatasaray's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Henrik Buvik was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. Sever Mandache came out of the goal and Cato Brunborg tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 94 minutes into the game, Alex Ophus recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Sever Mandache. Alex Ophus showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-3.
