Thomas Klausen was a little too slow when Stig-Inge Hodneland got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 6th minute. The score was now 1-0. MAXIMUS's Alfred Holvik pulled a muscle in his back after 12 minutes and couldn't finish the game. 12 minutes into the game, Bertel Wilhelmsen was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ørstveit's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave MAXIMUS the free kick. Stig-Inge Hodneland sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. When Stig-Inge Hodneland came up free with the goalie in the 16th minute, the MAXIMUS fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Stig-Inge Hodneland couldn't finish the play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Kim Idland in the 18th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Halvard Lindanger saved MAXIMUS from getting behind. 22 minutes into the game, one of MAXIMUS:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The referee gave Ørstveit a penalty, 24 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Johannes Kvande, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of MAXIMUS's Halvard Lindanger. 1-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bertel Wilhelmsen in the 27th minute of play forced MAXIMUS's goalkeeper Halvard Lindanger to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 27th minute, Lars Lundal hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, Ørstveit's Ole Weberg got a free kick in the 31st minute. Thomas Klausen showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Stig-Inge Hodneland in the 34th minute of the match. Lars Lundal recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 36th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Thomas Klausen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Stig-Inge Hodneland, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 45th match minute, MAXIMUS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Stig-Inge Hodneland to maneuver through the defense. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Kim Idland stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. During the 51st minute of the match Bertel Wilhelmsen completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Bertel Wilhelmsen a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Stig-Inge Hodneland sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Lars Lundal fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Thomas Klausen having to interfere. Stig-Inge Hodneland recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 60th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Fred Halleraker's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Halvard Lindanger firmly grabbed it by the left post. Halvard Lindanger made a fantastic save in the 65th minute, when Fred Halleraker sent off a good shot on target. Stig-Inge Hodneland fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Thomas Klausen having to interfere. After a rather tough play, MAXIMUS's Sigurd Brunborg got a free kick in the 69th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Ørstveit's zone, Stig-Inge Hodneland stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Thomas Klausen came out of the goal and Stig-Inge Hodneland tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Stig-Inge Hodneland sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Stig-Inge Hodneland fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Thomas Klausen having to interfere. 94 minutes into the match, Ørstveit's goal looked a bit too open when Mats Haldorsen came free, but Thomas Klausen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
