The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Svein Andersen didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Jørgen Raastad went, in the 4th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Runar Skjelbred fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tore Vevle having to interfere. Svein Andersen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fred Pettersson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Tore Vevle made an important save on a dangerous shot by Morten Mæland in the 19th minute. A collision led to Bomstad getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Marius Wennevold hit a great ball. Morten Mæland came free with the goalkeeper in the 21st minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Tore Vevle could save by the left post. Ståle Fremstad struck a weak shot in the 24th minute. Tore Vevle didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Aarak IF. Øyvind Roen hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. Tore Vevle stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Runar Skjelbred's shot from short distance in the 27th minute. The supporters of Bomstad booed when Aarak IF was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 30 match minutes in a wonderful position. Leif Kvam didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 31st minute, Jonathan Kronstad got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Morten Mæland struck a weak shot in the 33rd minute. Tore Vevle didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Aarak IF. Morten Mæland recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 39th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Tore Vevle didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 41st minute, which inside left pole to 1-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Fred Pettersson to make the kick off. After a rather tough play, Bomstad's Jonathan Kronstad got a free kick in the 54th minute. Morten Mæland received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Tore Vevle tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Tore Vevle showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Runar Skjelbred, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. Øyvind Roen charged in rather forcefully in the 58th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Øyvind Roen the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Aarak IF booed when Bomstad was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 59 match minutes in a wonderful position. Øyvind Roen didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the match had gone on for 63 minutes, Fred Pettersson took a quick shot and it went in 2-2 without a chance for Svein Andersen to make any attempt to save it. Fred Pettersson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Svein Andersen having to interfere. After some careless play in the Bomstad defense, Runar Skjelbred kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Tore Vevle. The Bomstad fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Tore Vevle should have stopped the shot. Morten Mæland sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Runar Skjelbred in the 80th minute of play forced Bomstad's goalkeeper Tore Vevle to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Morten Mæland sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 83rd match minute, Aarak IF was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ståle Fremstad to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 91st minute, Morten Mæland managed to get in a good position for a shot. Aarak IF's supporters rose to their feet, but Morten Mæland was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tore Vevle breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Marius Wennevold kicked well hit freekick during the 93rd minute of the match. Bomstad's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
