The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Nils Marthinussen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Erik Figenschau having to interfere. If Gjermund Mikkelsen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Morten Toresen came up free with the goalie in the 14th minute, the Sagvåg FF fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Morten Toresen couldn't finish the play. Morten Toresen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 16th minute. Erik Figenschau tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 17th match minute, Maanobygdi FF was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by John-Einar Aarsland to maneuver through the defense. 21 minutes into the match, Morten Toresen dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Erik Figenschau, 1-0. Maanobygdi FF's Harald Hokstad got a good chance for a goal in the 24th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of Maanobygdi FF booed when Sagvåg FF was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Martin Frøystad didn't get a good kick on the ball. Harald Hokstad received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Frode Lervåg tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Sagvåg FF getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Thomas Olaussen hit a great ball. Maanobygdi FF's Gjermund Mikkelsen got a good chance for a goal in the 34th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Nils Marthinussen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. With an all-out effort, Sagvåg FF's Erik Figenschau threw himself towards the right post 40 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Morten Toresen, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 43rd minute Harald Hokstad shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Frode Lervåg saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sagvåg FF's Frode Lervåg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gjermund Mikkelsen in the 45th minute of play. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Morten Toresen was the one to do the kick off. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Kjartan Ebbesen during the 62nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Morten Toresen succeeded in the game's 82nd minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 2-0. 86 minutes into the match, Sagvåg FF's goal looked a bit too open when Harald Hokstad came free, but Frode Lervåg reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 88th minute, Harald Hokstad managed to get in a good position for a shot. Maanobygdi FF's supporters rose to their feet, but Harald Hokstad was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Frode Lervåg breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Harald Hokstad fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Frode Lervåg having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gjermund Mikkelsen got free with Frode Lervåg in the 98th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.
