After some fancy dribbling in the 4th minute, Ask Haug managed to get in a good position for a shot. Reinsnes BF's supporters rose to their feet, but Ask Haug was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jo Idsø breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Birkjeland's Jo Idsø proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 8th minute of the match, managed to save Birkjeland from getting a goal against them. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Henrik Christiansen during the 9th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Finn-Christian Røstad in the 27th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jo Idsø saved Birkjeland from getting behind. Daniel Steffensen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Bendik Høines tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 36th minute, Morten Hegna hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Birkjeland's Lars Killi got a good chance for a goal in the 37th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Kim Stavem sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 44th minute, Finn-Christian Røstad got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 46th minute, Daniel Steffensen got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

Jo Idsø made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Ask Haug sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Finn-Christian Røstad fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jo Idsø having to interfere. Jo Idsø stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Finn-Christian Røstad's shot from short distance in the 85th minute. With his leg Bendik Høines managed to avoid a goal in the 89thth minute, when Birkjeland's Kim Stavem fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. A collision led to Reinsnes BF getting a freekick after 89 minutes play. Nils-Christian Andresen hit a great ball. Birkjeland's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
