Ferdinand Løtveit blasted a shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Preben Røsvik having to make a save. In the 15th minute, Christian Trones got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 21 minutes, Ferdinand Endresen mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Lövset and the Sauda players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Sauda booed when Lövset was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ferdinand Endresen didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Thorbjørn Nerli in the 23rd minute of play forced Lövset's goalkeeper Henrik Busch to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 26th minute the ball was on its way in behind Sauda's goalkeeper Preben Røsvik, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When Christian Trones came up free with the goalie in the 31st minute, the Lövset fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Christian Trones couldn't finish the play. Preben Røsvik made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ferdinand Løtveit in the 34th minute of play. Henrik Busch showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Thorbjørn Nerli in the 37th minute of the match. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Thorbjørn Nerli to strike the kick off in the second half. 60 minutes into the match, Lövset's goal looked a bit too open when Thorbjørn Nerli came free, but Henrik Busch reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 61 minutes, Olof Sirevåg managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sauda's supporters crossed their fingers, but Olof Sirevåg was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Olof Sirevåg received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 64th minute. Henrik Busch tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Leonard Bakkerud's late challenge caught a Sauda's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Leonard Bakkerud helped the player get up and apologised. In the 76th match minute, Lövset was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Leonard Bakkerud to maneuver through the defense. Christer Røyrvik kicked well hit freekick during the 78th minute of the match. Henrik Busch took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Thorbjørn Nerli, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 81st play minutes Olof Sirevåg shot 1-0, a short shot which went by Henrik Busch and just under the crossbar into goal. Olof Sirevåg fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Henrik Busch having to interfere. Petter Østreng hit a great freekick 90 minutes into the match. Ferdinand Løtveit struck a weak shot in the 96th minute. Preben Røsvik didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Lövset.
