Ole-Petter Støle took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Stian Jeppesen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in Fredrikkested BF's zone, Cato Bødtker stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Odd-Eirik Michalsen came out of the goal and Cato Bødtker tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 28th minute Stian Jeppesen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ole-Petter Støle saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 33rd minute, Atle Aurstad got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Vidar Kvalsvik in the 36th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Odd-Eirik Michalsen saved Fredrikkested BF from getting behind. 37 minutes into the match, Fredrikkested BF's goal looked a bit too open when Cato Bødtker came free, but Odd-Eirik Michalsen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 43rd minute, Vidar Kvalsvik got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

If Cato Bødtker had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 69th minute, Vidar Kvalsvik fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Odd-Eirik Michalsen, passed just outside the right post. 77 minutes into the game, Andreas Klokk was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Fredrikkested BF's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Bota the free kick. Cato Bødtker's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Odd-Eirik Michalsen read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 96th minute of play.
