After having played for 6 minutes, Cato Lia managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Hollvik IF's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cato Lia was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Cato Lia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Amund Engdal's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but John-Einar Bergli read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 11th minute of play. The supporters of Hollvik IF booed when Justad was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tor-Henrik Mork didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cato Lia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without John-Einar Bergli having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cato Lia in the 23rd minute of play forced Justad's goalkeeper John-Einar Bergli to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Martin Fretheim sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Hollvik IF's Thomas Sandve got a free kick in the 27th minute. Olav Rogstad made a fantastic save in the 29th minute, when Martin Fretheim sent off a good shot on target. In the 30thth minute of the game Cato Lia who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Justad's John-Einar Bergli was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Thomas Sandve hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. When Thomas Sandve fell near the penalty area in the 32nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Hollvik IF's protests and gave Thomas Sandve a yellow card for diving instead. Thomas Sandve kicked well hit freekick during the 33rd minute of the match. Olav Rogstad was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 33rd minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Tom Stokka. Tor-Egil Finseth's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Olav Rogstad read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 38th minute of play. Justad's Martin Fretheim got a good chance for a goal in the 42nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Olav Rogstad acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 46th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Halvard Turøy. Martin Fretheim fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Olav Rogstad having to interfere. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Cato Lia could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 51st minute of the match, but John-Einar Bergli made a huge save. Tor-Egil Finseth might have been able to make a better finish in the 53rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Olav Rogstad. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Tor-Egil Finseth ran back to his position shaking his head. Mads Dahl received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. John-Einar Bergli tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tor-Egil Finseth in the 68th minute of play forced Hollvik IF's goalkeeper Olav Rogstad to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 71st minute of the game. One of Justad:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Hollvik IF:s goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 80th minute, Martin Fretheim managed to get in a good position for a shot. Justad's supporters rose to their feet, but Martin Fretheim was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Olav Rogstad breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After having played for 82 minutes, Martin Fretheim managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal.
