Trym Thorsrud started the match with the kick off. After 3 played minutes Verdal FK got a freekick which was hit by Ole-Johan Joakimsen. Tommy Øvstedal showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rasmus Osen, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. In the 14th minute, Morten Borgersen made a precise shot to the right of Tebaldo Zaldo. Arsenal's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. Tommy Øvstedal showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rasmus Osen, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 40 minutes into the match, Verdal FK's goal looked a bit too open when Torgeir Friberg came free, but Tommy Øvstedal reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the match had gone on for 44 minutes, Trym Thorsrud took a quick shot and it went in 2-1 without a chance for Tebaldo Zaldo to make any attempt to save it. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

A collision led to Verdal FK getting a freekick after 52 minutes play. Trym Thorsrud hit a great ball. In the 54th minute, Arsenal's Linus Gustavson ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Tommy Øvstedal. Tommy Øvstedal yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-2. When the match clock showed 62 minutes, the score became 2-3 when Torgeir Friberg sped through Verdal FK's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Tommy Øvstedal. Tommy Øvstedal took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Linus Gustavson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Johannes Thorsrud hit a great freekick 69 minutes into the match. In the 73rdth minute of the game Linus Gustavson who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Verdal FK's Tommy Øvstedal was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Arsenal's Tebaldo Zaldo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gjermund Berre in the 76th minute of play. Tebaldo Zaldo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gjermund Berre, who was totally free with the ball in the 82nd minute. Henrik Molnes hit a great freekick 86 minutes into the match. With a little luck, Verdal FK's Tommy Øvstedal got control of the ball when Linus Gustavson tried to sneak it across the goal line. The supporters of Arsenal booed when Verdal FK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 91 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ole-Johan Joakimsen didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 92nd minute of the match Inge Haaland shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Tommy Øvstedal showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 96th minute, Rasmus Osen ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Tommy Øvstedal was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-4. The Arsenal supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Arsenal would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
