Hans-Cees Hommes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Appeltern HC's Frits Hebels proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 18th minute of the match, managed to save Appeltern HC from getting a goal against them. Ronald Bosz took the ball and in the 21 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Bob Davids. Bob Davids dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. In the 24th minute, Kees Seedorf hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 36th minute, Menno Bogaard got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Andre Tonnis's late challenge caught a Appeltern HC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Frits Hebels stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Hans-Cees Hommes's shot from short distance in the 55th minute. Menno Bogaard fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bob Davids having to interfere. When Hans-Cees Hommes came up free with the goalie in the 60th minute, the Ayen fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Hans-Cees Hommes couldn't finish the play. If Hans-Cees Hommes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Bob Davids showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ronald Bosz, who was totally free with the ball in the 68th minute. Menno Bogaard struck a weak shot in the 71st minute. Bob Davids didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Appeltern HC. The supporters of Appeltern HC booed when Ayen was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 72 match minutes in a wonderful position. Robert-Jan de Witte didn't get a good kick on the ball.
