Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Marinus Korfs kicked off to start the match. Menno Bogaard received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 5th minute. Ricky Boerma tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Johan Kuijsten fell near the penalty area in the 8th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ziek FC's protests and gave Johan Kuijsten a yellow card for diving instead. Menno Bogaard received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Ricky Boerma tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 10th match minute, Ziek FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Johan Kuijsten to maneuver through the defense. 12 minutes into the match, Appeltern HC's goal looked a bit too open when Steve Cornelisse came free, but Frits Hebels reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ronald Bosz recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 16th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 17th match minute, Ziek FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Timo Eisenga to maneuver through the defense. 22 minutes into the match, Appeltern HC's Ronald Bosz sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ricky Boerma narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Ziek FC's Johan Kuijsten got a free kick in the 22nd minute. During the 24th minute of the match Johan Kuijsten completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Johan Kuijsten a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. When Steve Cornelisse came up free with the goalie in the 27th minute, the Ziek FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Steve Cornelisse couldn't finish the play. After having played for 31 minutes, Filip Houwing managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Appeltern HC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Filip Houwing was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With an all-out effort, Appeltern HC's Ricky Boerma threw himself towards the right post 33 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Ronald Bosz, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. The supporters of Appeltern HC booed when Ziek FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Arne Jans didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 37 played minutes Ziek FC got a freekick which was hit by Marinus Korfs. Menno Bogaard sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ronald Bosz to make the kick off. If Steve Cornelisse had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Ziek FC's zone, Menno Bogaard stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ricky Boerma came out of the goal and Menno Bogaard tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Steve Cornelisse sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ferry Groten struck a weak shot in the 60th minute. Frits Hebels didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ziek FC. Ricky Boerma took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Donald Scholte, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Ronald Bosz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 73rd minute, Ronald Bosz made a precise shot to the right of Ricky Boerma. Ziek FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. Ronald Bosz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. Ricky Boerma tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 76th match minute, Ziek FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Arne Jans to maneuver through the defense. Ronald Bosz might have been able to make a better finish in the 78th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ricky Boerma. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ronald Bosz ran back to his position shaking his head. Filip Houwing's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ricky Boerma read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 80th minute of play. Ferry Groten charged in rather forcefully in the 83rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ferry Groten the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Ziek FC's Ferry Groten got a free kick in the 83rd minute. Ziek FC's Ricky Boerma played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ronald Bosz in the 84th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 85th minute, Menno Bogaard managed to get in a good position for a shot. Appeltern HC's supporters rose to their feet, but Menno Bogaard was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ricky Boerma breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
