Steven Saveneij took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Roland Zuiverloon, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The crowd rose to their feet as René Deitmers kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Jan Hendrik Klaassen. That made the score 1-0 in the 10 minute of play. If Harmen Robbermond had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Erwin Neijsen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Erwin Neijsen during the 24th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 24 played minutes Reijen got a freekick which was hit by Erwin Neijsen. After a rather tough play, Ottersum's Jasper van der Doelen got a free kick in the 28th minute. Abraham Koops was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 29th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Steven Saveneij showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Egbert Stroeve, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. 34 minutes into the match, Ottersum's Wilco Wittendorp sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jan Hendrik Klaassen narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Egbert Stroeve received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Steven Saveneij tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 41st minute, Egbert Stroeve managed to get in a good position for a shot. Reijen's supporters rose to their feet, but Egbert Stroeve was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Steven Saveneij breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 42 minutes into the match, Erwin Neijsen notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Ottersum's Steven Saveneij. Steven Saveneij was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. During the 46th minute of the match Erwin Neijsen completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Erwin Neijsen a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Erwin Neijsen kicked well hit freekick during the 47th minute of the match. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
After 57 minutes, Kevin Otten mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Reijen and the Ottersum players grew even worse after the yellow card. After some careless play in the Reijen defense, Gido Achterberg kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jan Hendrik Klaassen. The Reijen fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jan Hendrik Klaassen should have stopped the shot. In the 62nd minute Egbert Stroeve shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Steven Saveneij saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Ottersum booed when Reijen was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 65 match minutes in a wonderful position. Harmen Robbermond didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Gido Achterberg came up free with the goalie in the 66th minute, the Ottersum fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gido Achterberg couldn't finish the play. After some fancy dribbling in the 68th minute, Egbert Stroeve managed to get in a good position for a shot. Reijen's Jan Hendrik Klaassen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by John Sturkenboom in the 73rd minute of play. After 77 minutes, Harm Hoven mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ottersum and the Reijen players grew even worse after the yellow card. A very good chance. 83 minutes into the match, Reijen's goal looked a bit too open when René Deitmers came free, but Jan Hendrik Klaassen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gido Achterberg in the 85th minute of play forced Reijen's goalkeeper Jan Hendrik Klaassen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 85th minute, Gido Achterberg made a precise shot to the right of Jan Hendrik Klaassen. Reijen's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-1. Gido Achterberg's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jan Hendrik Klaassen read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 91st minute of play. 92 minutes into the match, René Deitmers notched a goal, 4-1, to the right of Reijen's Jan Hendrik Klaassen. Jan Hendrik Klaassen was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Many of Reijen's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Reijen may have spent more time on the ball, but Ottersum were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
