The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 9th minute, John Arends reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Frank Hoogendorp. The goal made the score 1-0. If Melvin Boeve had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers John Arends in the 26th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Frank Hoogendorp saved Dunsborg HC from getting behind. In the 29th minute, one of Middenbuurt FC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Middenbuurt FC. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Joost Brinks during the 33rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. An unexpectedly hard shot by John Arends in the 36th minute of play forced Dunsborg HC's goalkeeper Frank Hoogendorp to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Nathan Baker sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 41 minutes into the match, Dunsborg HC's goal looked a bit too open when John Arends came free, but Frank Hoogendorp reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Dunsborg HC's John Even got a free kick in the 42nd minute. Frank Hoogendorp made an important save on a dangerous shot by Nathan Baker in the 45th minute. If Melvin Boeve had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Jaap van Dalen's late challenge caught a Dunsborg HC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jaap van Dalen helped the player get up and apologised. Jaap van Dalen hit a great freekick 53 minutes into the match. If Nathan Baker had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After a rather tough play, Dunsborg HC's Wilfred Witting got a free kick in the 59th minute. Gooitzen Heesen walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. Ernest Zaagman made a fantastic save in the 71st minute, when Gerrie Kruit sent off a good shot on target. Ernest Zaagman showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gerrie Kruit in the 77th minute of the match. In the 91st minute, Nathan Baker got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Wilfred Witting's late challenge caught a Middenbuurt FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Wilfred Witting helped the player get up and apologised. In the 92nd match minute, Dunsborg HC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Wilfred Witting to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Dunsborg HC booed when Middenbuurt FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gerjan Wieringh didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 96 minutes, Gerrie Kruit managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Dunsborg HC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gerrie Kruit was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Gerrie Kruit fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 99th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ernest Zaagman having to interfere. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
