An unexpectedly hard shot by Bart Kramer in the 13th minute of play forced Zaanstad FC's goalkeeper Alexander Severijnse to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Chris Mueller during the 14th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Lucien Speelman recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 34th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Antoon van Heiningen took the ball and in the 37 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Bruno Bartels. Bruno Bartels dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. After having played for 41 minutes, Antoon van Heiningen managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Zaanstad FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Antoon van Heiningen was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

A collision led to Zaanstad FC getting a freekick after 96 minutes play. Philip Gierman hit a great ball. If Lucien Speelman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Hasseloo had won after a very even match.
