In the 6thth minute of the game Anton Staarman who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Zaanstad FC's Alexander Severijnse was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 9th match minute, Negenhuizen FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ferdi Verheije to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kees Wit in the 12th minute of play forced Negenhuizen FC's goalkeeper Co Ravenbergen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Kees Wit had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Negenhuizen FC's Co Ravenbergen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kees Wit in the 23rd minute of play. 25 minutes into the match, Zaanstad FC's goal looked a bit too open when Anton Staarman came free, but Alexander Severijnse reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Zaanstad FC's Teo Raatjes got a free kick in the 26th minute. Carel Sleiffer received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Alexander Severijnse tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Co Ravenbergen was out of position in the 34 minute of play, and Kees Wit capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Kees Wit really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. In the 39th minute Anton Staarman shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alexander Severijnse saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 41st minute the ball was on its way in behind Negenhuizen FC's goalkeeper Co Ravenbergen, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 41 played minutes Negenhuizen FC got a freekick which was hit by Tommie Aalberts. In the 47th minute, Kees Wit fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Carel Sleiffer made a kick off. 52 minutes into the match, Zaanstad FC's goalkeeper Alexander Severijnse had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Anton Staarman. If Carel Sleiffer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 63 minutes into the match, Zaanstad FC's Kees Wit sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Co Ravenbergen narrowly saved just below the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carel Sleiffer in the 66th minute of play forced Zaanstad FC's goalkeeper Alexander Severijnse to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Anton Staarman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
