Spectators: 34 (Terracing: 26, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) Marco Mols started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. Leon van Rhijn sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 18 played minutes Kathagen HC got a freekick which was hit by Erben Jacobs. After 19th play minutes Marco Mols shot 1-0, a short shot which went by Ger Mulders and just under the crossbar into goal. Marco Mols recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 23rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 33rd match minute, Kathagen HC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sjors Meppelink to maneuver through the defense. In the 34th minute Marco Mols shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ger Mulders saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Leon van Rhijn had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Hogeveen's Tom Gentenaar got a free kick in the 41st minute. When Leon van Rhijn came up free with the goalie in the 42nd minute, the Kathagen HC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Leon van Rhijn couldn't finish the play. Ger Mulders showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marco Mols in the 46th minute of the match. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Leon van Rhijn made a kick off. Bram Ponk made an important save on a dangerous shot by Melvin Molnar in the 53rd minute. The Kathagen HC fans' excitement grew in the 56th match minute when Kathagen HC's Melvin Molnar looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After a defensive mix-up in Kathagen HC's zone, Marco Mols stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ger Mulders came out of the goal and Marco Mols tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 63 minutes into the match, Kathagen HC's goal looked a bit too open when Tom Gentenaar came free, but Ger Mulders reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Hogeveen's zone, Leon van Rhijn stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Bram Ponk came out of the goal and Leon van Rhijn tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Carel Schuiling charged in rather forcefully in the 70th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Carel Schuiling the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Hogeveen's Carel Schuiling got a free kick in the 70th minute. Leon van Rhijn fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bram Ponk having to interfere. Coenraad Sturkenboom hit a great freekick 77 minutes into the match. Kathagen HC's Dirk-Jan Kuijsten couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 78th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Hogeveen. Ger Mulders showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tom Gentenaar, who was totally free with the ball in the 81st minute. Gido Wijngaart charged in rather forcefully in the 82nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Gido Wijngaart the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 82nd minute, Gido Wijngaart hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Leon van Rhijn in the 83rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Bram Ponk saved Hogeveen from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Leon van Rhijn in the 85th minute of play forced Hogeveen's goalkeeper Bram Ponk to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Melvin Molnar got free with Bram Ponk in the 87th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 90th minute Tom Gentenaar shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ger Mulders saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the Kathagen HC defense, Marco Mols kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ger Mulders. The Kathagen HC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ger Mulders should have stopped the shot. Kathagen HC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
