With an extended leg and a bit of luck Marco Kimman prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Marco Kimman made an important save on a dangerous shot by Albert Hammen in the 11th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ted Hulsebos during the 12th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In a very dangerous position, a player in Roordahuizum fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 12th minute. Penalty! Jacques van der Werff's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Marco Kimman read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 16th minute of play. Jacques van der Werff hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. In the 18th minute of the match Boudewijn Zomer sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Jens Lemmen skillfully saved the ball. When Albert Hammen came up free with the goalie in the 25th minute, the Kuilenrode HC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Albert Hammen couldn't finish the play. Jens Lemmen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Roland Kuis in the 27th minute of play. A hard shot by Humberto Maasland from long distance, 31 minutes into the match, got Marco Kimman's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Roland Kuis blasted a shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jens Lemmen having to make a save. After having played for 36 minutes, Albert Hammen managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Kuilenrode HC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Albert Hammen was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Roordahuizum's Marco Kimman played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marc Zwaanswijk in the 38th minute of play. Roland Kuis fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jens Lemmen having to interfere. After 44 minutes, Roland Kuis made it 1-1 with a short kick to the right side. Kuilenrode HC's Jens Lemmen tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Marc Zwaanswijk to make the kick off. After 57 played minutes Kuilenrode HC got a freekick which was hit by Michel Moes. Roland Kuis sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Roland Kuis in the 62nd minute of play forced Kuilenrode HC's goalkeeper Jens Lemmen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 63rd minute of the match, Roland Kuis tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Jens Lemmen saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Marco Kimman showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eddy Schuiling, who was totally free with the ball in the 69th minute. In the 70th minute, Marc Zwaanswijk left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Kuilenrode HC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. After 75 minutes, Stephan Remmelts mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Roordahuizum and the Kuilenrode HC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Stephan Remmelts hit a great freekick 75 minutes into the match. Leendert Siemers was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 79th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Eddy Schuiling charged in rather forcefully in the 83rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Eddy Schuiling the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Roordahuizum booed when Kuilenrode HC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 83 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eddy Schuiling didn't get a good kick on the ball. Roland Kuis fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jens Lemmen having to interfere. Roordahuizum's Marco Kimman played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marc Zwaanswijk in the 94th minute of play. If Albert Hammen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 98th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Kuilenrode HC fans cheered their team off the field, for while Roordahuizum had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
