With a left leg Pieter-Jan Schimmel saved Marienvelde from getting behind. Pieter-Jan Schimmel stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Albert Hammen's shot from short distance in the 10th minute. 12 minutes into the match, Kuilenrode HC's goalkeeper Jens Lemmen had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Tommie Duin. After some fancy dribbling in the 14th minute, Sjors Bense managed to get in a good position for a shot. Marienvelde's supporters rose to their feet, but Sjors Bense was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jens Lemmen breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 16th minute, Marienvelde's Sjors Bense dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. 23 minutes into the match, Marienvelde's goal looked a bit too open when Marc Zwaanswijk came free, but Pieter-Jan Schimmel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Marc Zwaanswijk fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pieter-Jan Schimmel having to interfere. Marco Arts hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. 29 minutes into the match, Marienvelde's goal looked a bit too open when Marc Zwaanswijk came free, but Pieter-Jan Schimmel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 30th minute, Leendert Siemers hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Albert Hammen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 41st minute, Albert Hammen managed to get in a good position for a shot. Kuilenrode HC's supporters rose to their feet, but Albert Hammen was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Pieter-Jan Schimmel breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Sjors Bense made a kick off. When Frans Klap fell near the penalty area in the 52nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Kuilenrode HC's protests and gave Frans Klap a yellow card for diving instead. After 52 played minutes Kuilenrode HC got a freekick which was hit by Frans Klap. If Sjors Bense had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 57th minute Sjors Bense shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jens Lemmen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 59 minutes into the match, Marienvelde's Sjors Bense sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jens Lemmen narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Jens Lemmen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sjors Bense, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. 71 minutes into the game, Marienvelde's Tommie Duin nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jens Lemmen made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. Kuilenrode HC's Jens Lemmen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sjors Bense in the 89th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Tommie Duin's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jens Lemmen was relentless in the 90th minute of the game. Pieter-Jan Schimmel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eddy Schuiling in the 96th minute of the match. Marienvelde's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
