Roger Melker's late challenge caught a Hayum's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Roger Melker helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Schenkel FC's Roger Melker got a free kick in the 3rd minute. In the 6th minute Heiko Slot shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joeri van Nistelrooij saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Edwin Graaf had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 7th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Daan de Putter charged in rather forcefully in the 10th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Daan de Putter the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 10th minute, Daan de Putter hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Wim Stühling fell near the penalty area in the 13th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Hayum's protests and gave Wim Stühling a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Hayum getting a freekick after 13 minutes play. Wim Stühling hit a great ball. 14 minutes into the match, Hayum's goal looked a bit too open when Thijs Brandsma came free, but Arno Post reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Hayum's Richard Rademaker shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 20th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Joeri van Nistelrooij but with some difficulty. In the 25th minute, Mirko Broerse got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The supporters of Hayum booed when Schenkel FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Roger Melker didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Edwin Graaf got free with Joeri van Nistelrooij in the 29th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Schenkel FC's Thijs Brandsma got a good chance for a goal in the 37th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Arno Post showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mirko Broerse in the 39th minute of the match. When Heiko Slot fell near the penalty area in the 41st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Hayum's protests and gave Heiko Slot a yellow card for diving instead. After 41 played minutes Hayum got a freekick which was hit by Heiko Slot. In the 46th minute, Bill ter Averst hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Thijs Brandsma might have been able to make a better finish in the 54th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Arno Post. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Thijs Brandsma ran back to his position shaking his head. When Mirko Broerse came up free with the goalie in the 57th minute, the Schenkel FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mirko Broerse couldn't finish the play. After a rather tough play, Schenkel FC's Ferry van Zalen got a free kick in the 62nd minute. Michael Verbeek charged in rather forcefully in the 68th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Michael Verbeek the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 67th minute of the game. One of Hayum:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Schenkel FC:s goal. Koen Kras walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. Mirko Broerse fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Arno Post having to interfere. In the 72nd minute, Daan de Putter hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 89th minute Heiko Slot shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joeri van Nistelrooij saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 98th minute Mirko Broerse shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arno Post saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
