Stefan Koeling could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 5th minute of the match, but Henk-Jan Temen made a huge save. Gertjan de Putter made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mike van Assen in the 8th minute of play. 16 minutes into the game, Ritthem HC's Chris Veltman nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Gertjan de Putter made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Gertjan de Putter made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Martien Sans in the 23rd minute of play. Gertjan de Putter showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Martien Sans, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. Martien Sans blasted a shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Gertjan de Putter having to make a save. 31 minutes into the game, Tonnie Heida was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Zandburen HC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ritthem HC the free kick. The supporters of Ritthem HC booed when Zandburen HC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tonnie Heida didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 32nd minute, Jan Hendrik Meijs hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 35 minutes, Stefan Koeling managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Zandburen HC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Stefan Koeling was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 37 minutes of play, Zandburen HC's Stefan Koeling made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Henk-Jan Temen was left in no man's land by his defense there! Gertjan de Putter stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Chris Veltman's shot from short distance in the 43rd minute. Stefan Koeling struck a weak shot in the 47th minute. Henk-Jan Temen didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Zandburen HC. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The wind increased when Fabiën Bender made the kick off in the second half. Henk-Jan Temen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Stefan Koeling, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 58 minutes into the match, Ritthem HC's goal looked a bit too open when Fabiën Bender came free, but Henk-Jan Temen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 67 minutes, Martien Sans managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ritthem HC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Martien Sans was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. A hard shot 68 in the game by Martien Sans from a close distance when the talented Gertjan de Putter managed to make a qualified save. Zandburen HC's players were relieved. In the 69th minute, Ritthem HC's Chris Veltman ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Gertjan de Putter. Gertjan de Putter yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-2. If Martien Sans had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. Martien Sans fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gertjan de Putter having to interfere. Gertjan de Putter came out of the goal in the 82nd minute to try and stop a shot by Ritthem HC's Martien Sans. But to his dismay, Martien Sans quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-3. In the 86thth minute of the game Fabiën Bender who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ritthem HC's Henk-Jan Temen was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Chris Veltman received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Gertjan de Putter tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Fabiën Bender sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The Zandburen HC supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Ritthem HC's performance. The match ended with a win for Ritthem HC.
