The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. A collision led to Brillerij SC getting a freekick after 3 minutes play. Franck Stam hit a great ball. Wilfred Homan recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 6th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Steven de Vriess short, quick shot in the 8thth minute got Guus van Fessum to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Steven de Vries received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 10th minute. Guus van Fessum tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 11 played minutes Brillerij SC got a freekick which was hit by Egbert de Zwart. Hubert Waterman showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sjors Saeijs in the 15th minute of the match. 16 minutes into the match, Brillerij SC's goal looked a bit too open when Sjors Saeijs came free, but Hubert Waterman reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Han Jacobs charged in rather forcefully in the 18th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Han Jacobs the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Han Jacobs kicked well hit freekick during the 18th minute of the match. Catarinadal FC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Dirk-Jan Tamminga in the 21st minute. Catarinadal FC's Sjors Saeijs got a good chance for a goal in the 24th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wilfred Homan in the 31st minute of play forced Brillerij SC's goalkeeper Hubert Waterman to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 35 minutes into the match, Steven de Vries had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Guus van Fessum. Catarinadal FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Steven de Vries was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Sjors Saeijs sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Franck Stam kicked well hit freekick during the 40th minute of the match. Guus van Fessum took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Johan Schenning, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Guus van Fessum was out of position in the 47 minute of play, and Jonathan Roodenburg capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Jonathan Roodenburg really showed his touch with that goal: 2-0. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Wilfred Homan made a kick off. Steven de Vries received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Guus van Fessum tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Steven de Vries sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 59 minutes of play, Brillerij SC's Johan Schenning made it 3-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Guus van Fessum was left in no man's land by his defense there! Han Driel hit a great freekick 62 minutes into the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Steven de Vries in the 66th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Guus van Fessum prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The supporters of Brillerij SC booed when Catarinadal FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 68 match minutes in a wonderful position. Han Driel didn't get a good kick on the ball. Guus van Fessum showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Steven de Vries, who was totally free with the ball in the 71st minute. Sjors Saeijs fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hubert Waterman having to interfere. 76 minutes into the match, Catarinadal FC's goal looked a bit too open when Steven de Vries came free, but Guus van Fessum reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Sjors Saeijs got free with Hubert Waterman in the 77th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Wilfred Homan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 81st minute. Hubert Waterman tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Brillerij SC's Hubert Waterman proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 83rd minute of the match, managed to save Brillerij SC from getting a goal against them. If Steven de Vries had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Brillerij SC booed when Catarinadal FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 85 match minutes in a wonderful position. Arjen Wit didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 86 minutes, Steven de Vries managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Brillerij SC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Steven de Vries was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Johan Schenning fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 99th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Guus van Fessum having to interfere. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Brillerij SC fans cheered their team off the field, for while Catarinadal FC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
