Altena HC's Rick Blank got a good chance for a goal in the 24th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 28th minute, Michael Hoekstra got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Remond Jeuring made a fantastic save in the 32nd minute, when Henry Brürs sent off a good shot on target. In the 34th minute, Michael Hoekstra left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Maatsehei fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Daniël de Boer fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Frits Akkerman having to interfere. Rick Blank sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 48th minute, Daniël de Boer ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Frits Akkerman was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Henry Brürs made a kick off. In the 56th minute the ball was on its way in behind Maatsehei's goalkeeper Remond Jeuring, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Maatsehei's Michael Hoekstra got a good chance for a goal in the 63rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Rick Blank charged in rather forcefully in the 70th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Rick Blank the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Altena HC getting a freekick after 70 minutes play.
