After a defensive mix-up in Souberg FC's zone, Co Kip stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Reinier Hoiting came out of the goal and Co Kip tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience was convinced that Klaas de Putter's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Reinier Hoiting was relentless in the 26th minute of the game. Tom Hebels who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 62ndth minute tested the skills of Mathieu Dekkers when he managed to save the team from getting behind. After 65 played minutes Souberg FC got a freekick which was hit by Frits van Asten. After 66 played minutes, Maren's Pim Hoving shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Reinier Hoiting came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Maren reached it. Mathieu Dekkers took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rogier Springelkamp, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 73rd minute, Maren's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Rogier Springelkamp fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post.
