Stephan Boerma stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Carlo Batenburg's shot from short distance in the 6th minute. When the match had gone on for 9 minutes, Godfried Ostermann took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Stephan Boerma to make any attempt to save it. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Joris Struik during the 13th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 13th match minute, Delfzijl FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Joris Struik to maneuver through the defense. In a very dangerous position, a player in Delfzijl FC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 14th minute. Penalty! The referee gave Stavenisse VV a penalty, 15 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Roelof Dalman, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Delfzijl FC's Stephan Boerma. 2-0. In the 20th match minute, Delfzijl FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Joris Struik to maneuver through the defense. Roelof Dalman was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 21st played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Joris Struik hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. Carlo Batenburg received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Stephan Boerma tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some careless play in the Stavenisse VV defense, Frits van Zwieten kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Andre Middeljans. The Stavenisse VV fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Andre Middeljans should have stopped the shot. After having played for 32 minutes, Geert Rooy managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Delfzijl FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Geert Rooy was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Carlo Batenburg had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Aad Klompe received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Stephan Boerma tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Geert Rooy fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Andre Middeljans having to interfere. Andre Middeljans took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Frits van Zwieten, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Carlo Batenburg to strike the kick off in the second half. A collision led to Delfzijl FC getting a freekick after 52 minutes play. Joris Struik hit a great ball. The Stavenisse VV fans' excitement grew in the 55th match minute when Stavenisse VV's Aad Klompe looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 3-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 62nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Delfzijl FC's goalkeeper Stephan Boerma, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Aad Klompe had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 70th minute, Geert Rooy ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Andre Middeljans was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-2. Frits van Zwieten recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 74th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Carlo Batenburg sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 79 played minutes Delfzijl FC got a freekick which was hit by Gert van Rijswijk. Roelof Dalman was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 80th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Stephan Boerma took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Aad Klompe, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Stavenisse VV's Folker Doren pulled a muscle in his leg after 84 minutes and couldn't finish the game. Frits van Zwieten's late challenge caught a Stavenisse VV's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Frits van Zwieten helped the player get up and apologised. Frits van Zwieten kicked well hit freekick during the 85th minute of the match. In the 93rd match minute, Stavenisse VV was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Wesley Blom to maneuver through the defense. If Frits van Zwieten had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Stavenisse VV's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
