Spectators: 34 (Terracing: 26, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) The mood of the audience was pleasant when Frits van Zwieten made the kick off which started today's match. Zuidhaffel's Gio Terpstra got a good chance for a goal in the 7th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Geert Rooy got free with Herman Ter in the 16th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The audience was convinced that Tonny Wermans's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Stephan Boerma was relentless in the 18th minute of the game. Delfzijl FC's Stephan Boerma played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tonny Wermans in the 24th minute of play. Tonny Wermans sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Gio Terpstra had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Frits van Zwieten in the 34th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Herman Ter prevented the ball from getting in the gole. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Frits van Zwieten in the 35th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Herman Ter saved Zuidhaffel from getting behind. In the 39th minute the ball was on its way in behind Delfzijl FC's goalkeeper Stephan Boerma, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Frits van Zwieten fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Herman Ter having to interfere. Delfzijl FC's Stephan Boerma played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tonny Wermans in the 46th minute of play. In the 47th match minute, Delfzijl FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Joris Struik to maneuver through the defense. If Gio Terpstra had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Tonny Wermans stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 56 minutes had been played when some careless play by Delfzijl FC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Damien Schol was slow to take the kick. During this time Zuidhaffel's players had a chance to rest. After taking down the ball on Zuidhaffel's corner Damien Schol fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Stephan Boerma quite easily take care of the ball. Erik Helwig kicked well hit freekick during the 57th minute of the match. Damien Schol took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 58th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Stephan Boerma. Delfzijl FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. If Dirk Klasens had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 62 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Delfzijl FC! 68 minutes into the match, Zuidhaffel's Marcel Gulpen sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Stephan Boerma narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 70th minute, Delfzijl FC's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Gio Terpstra fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. If Tonny Wermans had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Herman Ter showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Geert Rooy, who was totally free with the ball in the 77th minute. Herman Ter stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Frits van Zwieten's shot from short distance in the 78th minute. When Tonny Wermans came up free with the goalie in the 80th minute, the Zuidhaffel fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tonny Wermans couldn't finish the play. Geert Rooy might have been able to make a better finish in the 83rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Herman Ter. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Geert Rooy ran back to his position shaking his head. 88 minutes into the match, Zuidhaffel's goal looked a bit too open when Geert Rooy came free, but Herman Ter reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gio Terpstra sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gio Terpstra got free with Stephan Boerma in the 91st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 92nd match minute, Delfzijl FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Joris Struik to maneuver through the defense. Tonny Wermans received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. Stephan Boerma tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Herman Ter made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Geert Rooy in the 99th minute of play. The Zuidhaffel supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Zuidhaffel would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
