In the 4th minute Jhon Onrust shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kristian Driel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jhon Onrust received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Kristian Driel tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpected shot in the 18th minute by Gerwin de Jong got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. With his leg Arne Wikenburg managed to avoid a goal in the 20thth minute, when Essebroek's Max de Mol fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Arne Wikenburg stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Gerwin de Jong's shot from short distance in the 22nd minute. After a defensive mix-up in Essebroek's zone, Jhon Onrust stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kristian Driel came out of the goal and Jhon Onrust tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 26th minute of the match Frits Eiting sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Kristian Driel skillfully saved the ball. Jhon Onrust sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 31 minutes into the match, Max de Mol notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Kinnum's Arne Wikenburg. Arne Wikenburg was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Essebroek's Max de Mol got a good chance for a goal in the 35th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Gerwin de Jong might have been able to make a better finish in the 37th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Arne Wikenburg. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Gerwin de Jong ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 42nd minute Gerwin de Jong shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arne Wikenburg saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 44 minutes into the match, Kinnum's goalkeeper Arne Wikenburg had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Max de Mol. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

If Gerwin de Jong had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Jan Hilkes during the 58th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 59th minute, Jan Hilkes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 60 played minutes Kinnum got a freekick which was hit by Reinier Huiting. Max de Mol fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Arne Wikenburg having to interfere. Gerwin de Jong received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Arne Wikenburg tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
