If Elroy Schophuis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cees Bont fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joep Buys having to interfere. After 14 minutes of play, Nieuwenhagen FC's Cees Bont made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Joep Buys was left in no man's land by his defense there! 17 minutes into the game, Henry Oldenborger cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Roeland Nijhof was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. When Egbert de Haan fell near the penalty area in the 21st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Koolwijk's protests and gave Egbert de Haan a yellow card for diving instead. In the 21st minute, Egbert de Haan hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 26th minute, Cees Bont got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 39 minutes into the game, Henry Oldenborger cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Roeland Nijhof was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 42nd match minute, Koolwijk was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mario Zwaanswijk to maneuver through the defense. Koolwijk's Joep Buys played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Meindert Oosting in the 43rd minute of play. If Meindert Oosting had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Henry Oldenborger to make the kick off. Cees Bont struck a weak shot in the 52nd minute. Joep Buys didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Nieuwenhagen FC. Elroy Schophuis sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 68th minute, Henry Oldenborger hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Koolwijk's zone, Cees Bont stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Joep Buys came out of the goal and Cees Bont tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Elroy Schophuis sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Meindert Oosting in the 80th minute of play forced Koolwijk's goalkeeper Joep Buys to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 81st minute Henry Oldenborger shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Roeland Nijhof saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Elroy Schophuis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 88th minute, Cees Bont got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Elroy Schophuis fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Roeland Nijhof having to interfere. When the final whistle sounded Koolwijk left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Nieuwenhagen FC.
