Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) In the 3rd minute of the game, Meindert Oosting landed unfortunately after trying to head the ball, and pulled a muscle in the back, so badly that he had to leave the field. 3 minutes into the game, Maarten Holst was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Azelo's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Nieuwenhagen FC the free kick. 16 minutes into the match, Nieuwenhagen FC's goal looked a bit too open when Pepijn Geurtsen came free, but Roeland Nijhof reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Pepijn Geurtsen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Roeland Nijhof having to interfere. After 26 played minutes Azelo got a freekick which was hit by Fokke Plaggenborg. Leon Zoetmulder showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cees Bont, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. Edgard Dijkstra charged in rather forcefully in the 29th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Edgard Dijkstra the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Nieuwenhagen FC booed when Azelo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edgard Dijkstra didn't get a good kick on the ball. Pepijn Geurtsen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Azelo's Edgard Dijkstra got a free kick in the 34th minute. Philip Spannenburg could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 36th minute of the match, but Roeland Nijhof made a huge save. The audience thought a goal was coming when Martien Rodenboog got free with Roeland Nijhof in the 41st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After some fancy dribbling in the 43rd minute, Cees Bont managed to get in a good position for a shot. Nieuwenhagen FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Cees Bont was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Leon Zoetmulder breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 47 minutes in the game, Philip Spannenburg fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Roeland Nijhof having to interfere. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Cees Bont was the one to do the kick off. Roeland Nijhof made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pepijn Geurtsen in the 52nd minute of play. A collision led to Nieuwenhagen FC getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Raymond Konterman hit a great ball. In the 58th minute Philip Spannenburg shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Roeland Nijhof saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Leon Zoetmulder made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cees Bont in the 63rd minute. After having played for 66 minutes, Cees Bont managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Nieuwenhagen FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cees Bont was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Pepijn Geurtsen struck a weak shot in the 71st minute. Roeland Nijhof didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Azelo. In the 73rd minute Philip Spannenburg shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Roeland Nijhof saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nieuwenhagen FC's Bastiaan Kruijs got a good chance for a goal in the 91st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 92nd match minute, Azelo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Edgard Dijkstra to maneuver through the defense. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
