The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Bredevoort's Marco van Westerop played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ben Idelberger in the 2nd minute of play. Marco van Westerop showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ben Idelberger in the 8th minute of the match. If Jaap Anker had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Benjamin Haken made a fantastic save in the 15th minute, when Jochem Korf sent off a good shot on target. If Bjorn Rodenberg had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 24 played minutes Hoeven got a freekick which was hit by Derk Zoetmulder. Dirk de Visser sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 41st minute, Rudi Lurling fired a really elegant long shot, but Benjamin Haken threw himself and managed to get hold of the ball just in front of the right post. If Jaap Anker had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Bredevoort booed when Hoeven was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Derk Zoetmulder didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dirk de Visser received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Benjamin Haken tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ben Idelberger to make the kick off. Bjorn Rodenberg fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marco van Westerop having to interfere. In the 58th minute Jaap Anker shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benjamin Haken saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 61st minute, Hoeven's Richard Smeekes ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Marco van Westerop. Marco van Westerop yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-1. Ben Idelberger kicked well hit freekick during the 64th minute of the match. A collision led to Bredevoort getting a freekick after 65 minutes play. Jochem Korf hit a great ball. 67 minutes into the match, Bredevoort's goal looked a bit too open when Ben Idelberger came free, but Marco van Westerop reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Hoeven's zone, Jaap Anker stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Benjamin Haken came out of the goal and Jaap Anker tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Jaap Anker fell near the penalty area in the 79th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Bredevoort's protests and gave Jaap Anker a yellow card for diving instead. In the 79th match minute, Bredevoort was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jaap Anker to maneuver through the defense. Bjorn Rodenberg took the ball and in the 81 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Marco van Westerop. Marco van Westerop dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. If Bjorn Rodenberg had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Hoeven's Bjorn Rodenberg got a good chance for a goal in the 86th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 89 played minutes Hoeven got a freekick which was hit by Jan Boeringe. After some fancy dribbling in the 91st minute, Dirk de Visser managed to get in a good position for a shot. Bredevoort's supporters rose to their feet, but Dirk de Visser was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Benjamin Haken breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Benjamin Haken showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dirk de Visser in the 93rd minute of the match. In the 95th minute, Hoeven's Bjorn Rodenberg dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-3.
