The tension between the Gaasten and the Sandtfort HC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Gaasten's Martin Zandstra got a free kick in the 5th minute. Fabiën Spanjer received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 7th minute. Boudewijn Homan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Dirk Waard had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 10th minute, Fabiën Spanjer left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Sandtfort HC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. Dirk Waard received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Fernando Baatenburg breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Fernando Baatenburg showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jan-Peter Sandstra in the 30th minute of the match. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 36th minute of the game. One of Sandtfort HC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Gaasten:s goal. When Fernando Knuppel came up free with the goalie in the 44th minute, the Gaasten fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fernando Knuppel couldn't finish the play. Fernando Baatenburg took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jan-Peter Sandstra, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Dirk Waard was the one to do the kick off. Jan-Peter Sandstra fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fernando Baatenburg having to interfere. In the 61st minute Dirk Waard shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Boudewijn Homan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ralph Melis hit a great freekick 62 minutes into the match. Fabiën Spanjer received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 64th minute. Koos Reitsma helped the player get up and apologised. After 70 played minutes Gaasten got a freekick which was hit by Koos Reitsma. Koos Reitsma sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
