Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Wim Luirink started the match with the kick off. After some careless play in the Aardenburg HC defense, Mark Traa kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jan Hammen. The Aardenburg HC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jan Hammen should have stopped the shot. Jan Hammen stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Wim Luirink's shot from short distance in the 9th minute. The supporters of Foudgum booed when Aardenburg HC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Adriaan Zevenhuizen didn't get a good kick on the ball. Aardenburg HC's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Wim Luirink 12 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 2-0. When Wim Luirink came up free with the goalie in the 16th minute, the Foudgum fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Wim Luirink couldn't finish the play. If Dirk Randag had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 34th minute, Dirk Randag managed to get in a good position for a shot. Aardenburg HC's supporters rose to their feet, but Dirk Randag was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Wim Wittendorp breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Dirk Randag recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 37th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 39th minute the ball was on its way in behind Foudgum's goalkeeper Wim Wittendorp, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 40 minutes into the game, Bram Hegeman was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Foudgum's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Aardenburg HC the free kick. A collision led to Foudgum getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. Bram Hegeman hit a great ball. In the 41st minute Dirk Randag shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wim Wittendorp saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jan Hammen came out of the goal in the 46th minute to try and stop a shot by Foudgum's Mark Traa. But to his dismay, Mark Traa quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-1. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-1 at half-time.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Dennis van Bronckhorst to strike the kick off in the second half. A collision led to Foudgum getting a freekick after 51 minutes play. Vincent Wehkamp hit a great ball. Wim Wittendorp made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eelco Reinders in the 56th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Foudgum's Bram Hegeman got a free kick in the 57th minute. Dennis van Bronckhorst sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Mark Traa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jan Hammen having to interfere. 63 minutes into the game, Adriaan Zevenhuizen was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Aardenburg HC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Foudgum the free kick. Wim Luirink took the ball and in the 65 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Jan Hammen. Jan Hammen dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-1. After a defensive mix-up in Foudgum's zone, Dennis van Bronckhorst stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Wim Wittendorp came out of the goal and Dennis van Bronckhorst tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Dirk Randag struck a weak shot in the 75th minute. Wim Wittendorp didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Aardenburg HC. Dirk Randag fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wim Wittendorp having to interfere. If Wim Luirink had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Mark Traa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dennis van Bronckhorst in the 97th minute of play forced Foudgum's goalkeeper Wim Wittendorp to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the referee blew the final whistle, Foudgum could leave the field as winners, despite Aardenburg HC having more of the ball for most of the match.
