With a couple of smart ball manuevers Herman Daniels in the 3rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Roderick den Engelsman saved Westrik FC from getting behind. If Wim Snijders had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 13th minute, Herman Daniels managed to get in a good position for a shot. Groede HC's supporters rose to their feet, but Herman Daniels was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Roderick den Engelsman breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 17th minute Stefan Kroeze shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ronny van Zwieten saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Wim Snijderss short, quick shot in the 22ndth minute got Roderick den Engelsman to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. The nice shot from Wim Snijders in the 24thth minute just in front of the goal should have ended in point on the board, but Roderick den Engelsman had a great feel for the game and superbly saved the ball from getting in by the left post. After some fancy dribbling in the 25th minute, Stefan Kroeze managed to get in a good position for a shot. Westrik FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Stefan Kroeze was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ronny van Zwieten breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Herman Daniels charged in rather forcefully in the 27th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Herman Daniels the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 27 played minutes Groede HC got a freekick which was hit by Herman Daniels. Ronny van Zwieten showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Stefan Kroeze, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. If Wim Snijders had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Wim Snijders received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Roderick den Engelsman tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Antoon de Gooijer's late challenge caught a Groede HC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Antoon de Gooijer helped the player get up and apologised. Groede HC's Ronny van Zwieten played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Stefan Kroeze in the 39th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Westrik FC's Jan Zwaanswijk got a free kick in the 41st minute. Groede HC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Marcel Valk in the 44th minute. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Stefan Kroeze made a kick off. Ronny van Zwieten made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Stefan Kroeze in the 51st minute of play. The supporters of Westrik FC booed when Groede HC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Arnold Nijemanting didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 56th minute, Wim Snijders managed to get in a good position for a shot. Groede HC's supporters rose to their feet, but Wim Snijders was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. In the 77th minute Wim Snijders shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Roderick den Engelsman saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Stefan Kroeze was extremely unlucky when he, in the 85th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. 87 minutes into the match, Groede HC's goalkeeper Ronny van Zwieten had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gerrie Holthuis. Westrik FC's Roderick den Engelsman played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Herman Daniels in the 89th minute of play. Roderick den Engelsman took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wim Snijders, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ronny van Zwieten showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Stefan Kroeze, who was totally free with the ball in the 92nd minute.
