The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 4 minutes into the match, Tilburen's Fred Gerrits sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Stefan Elshot narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Stefan Elshot made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Florian van der Werff in the 10th minute of play. A collision led to Tilburen getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Florian van der Werff hit a great ball. After 29 minutes, Raymond van As mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Venneperdorp HC and the Tilburen players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Venneperdorp HC's Raymond van As got a free kick in the 29th minute. Gooitzen Baardmam made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Brain Wekenburg in the 32nd minute of play. If Fred Gerrits had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 41st minute Fred Gerrits shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Stefan Elshot saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Stefan Elshot took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Florian van der Werff, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Tilburen getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Ben Janssen hit a great ball. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Brain Wekenburg to strike the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, Venneperdorp HC's Ronald Remmelts sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Gooitzen Baardmam narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After 53 minutes, Fokke Wander mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Tilburen and the Venneperdorp HC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Stefan Elshot was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 60th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Felix Berendt. After some careless play in the Tilburen defense, Brain Wekenburg kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Gooitzen Baardmam. The Tilburen fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Gooitzen Baardmam should have stopped the shot. Ronald Remmelts sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Fred Gerrits blasted a shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Stefan Elshot having to make a save. After a rather tough play, Venneperdorp HC's Giel van den Bergh got a free kick in the 73rd minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 76th minute, Taco Doren managed to get in a good position for a shot. Venneperdorp HC's supporters rose to their feet, but Taco Doren was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gooitzen Baardmam breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a defensive mix-up in Venneperdorp HC's zone, Ben Janssen stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Stefan Elshot came out of the goal and Ben Janssen tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 82 minutes, Taco Doren mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Venneperdorp HC and the Tilburen players grew even worse after the yellow card. Taco Doren kicked well hit freekick during the 82nd minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Brain Wekenburg in the 84th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Gooitzen Baardmam saved Tilburen from getting behind. In the 85th minute, Ronald Remmelts left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Venneperdorp HC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Brain Wekenburg in the 90th minute of play forced Tilburen's goalkeeper Gooitzen Baardmam to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Ronald Remmelts came up free with the goalie in the 91st minute, the Venneperdorp HC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ronald Remmelts couldn't finish the play. After a defensive mix-up in Tilburen's zone, Ronald Remmelts stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gooitzen Baardmam came out of the goal and Ronald Remmelts tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.
