Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Jacob Sloothaak got the match started through his kick off. 7 minutes into the game, Corné Bekker cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Andy Teuws was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 14 minutes into the game, Westerhoven HC's Thijs Eringa nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jef van Kampen made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Thijs Eringa in the 20th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jef van Kampen saved Wegterholt from getting behind. Edgar Driessens hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. After some careless play in the Wegterholt defense, Thijs Eringa kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jef van Kampen. The Wegterholt fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jef van Kampen should have stopped the shot. Westerhoven HC's Andy Teuws played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jacob Sloothaak in the 25th minute of play. Thijs Eringa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Jef van Kampen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jef van Kampen showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Thijs Eringa in the 30th minute of the match. Corné Bekker kicked well hit freekick during the 33rd minute of the match. Sjoerd Venema sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jhon Bender kicked well hit freekick during the 39th minute of the match. Martien Rinzema fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jef van Kampen having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Corné Bekker got free with Andy Teuws in the 46th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The score stood at 2-2 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Thijs Eringa to strike the kick off in the second half. Jacob Sloothaak received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. Andy Teuws tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 58 minutes of play, Wegterholt's Jacob Sloothaak made it 3-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Andy Teuws was left in no man's land by his defense there! After 68 minutes Westerhoven HC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Hans Nedergaard who took care of the corner kick. The corner ended in Hans Nedergaard almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Westerhoven HC's Andy Teuws did a great save. In the 70th minute, Sjoerd Venema made a precise shot to the right of Jef van Kampen. Wegterholt's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-3. Westerhoven HC's Andy Teuws played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Anthony de Swart in the 74th minute of play. Sjoerd Venema could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 75th minute of the match, but Jef van Kampen made a huge save. In the 77th minute, Wim Hellemons hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 78 minutes into the match, Wegterholt's Hans Nedergaard broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. After 79 played minutes Westerhoven HC got a freekick which was hit by Jonathan Brans. Thijs Eringa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jef van Kampen having to interfere. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
