Rudi Zomer showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jasper Ostermann in the 15th minute of the match. Laurens de Vries's late challenge caught a Zaanstad's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Laurens de Vries helped the player get up and apologised. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 19th minute of the game. One of Lutjebroek HC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Zaanstad:s goal. Patrick Zuiverloon fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rudi Zomer having to interfere. Lutjebroek HC's Rudi Zomer played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jasper Ostermann in the 37th minute of play. Rudi Zomer showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Patrick Zuiverloon in the 44th minute of the match. Rudi Zomer showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Patrick Zuiverloon, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. In the 46th match minute, Zaanstad was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Roy Klap to maneuver through the defense. Kevin Zalm fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Arie Robben having to interfere. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Jasper Ostermann made a kick off. The supporters of Lutjebroek HC booed when Zaanstad was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ger Planting didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 56th minute Kevin Zalm shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arie Robben saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience was convinced that Kevin Zalm's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Arie Robben was relentless in the 57th minute of the game. In the 94th minute Kevin Zalm shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arie Robben saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Zaanstad had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
