The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 5th minute of the game, Ton Mensing landed unfortunately after trying to head the ball, and pulled a muscle in the back, so badly that he had to leave the field. After 6 played minutes Hemelrijk HC got a freekick which was hit by Hans-Cees Hoogsteen. Sebastiaan Taalman showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marcel Zuid, who was totally free with the ball in the 8th minute. When Hemelrijk HC's Folkert Weerd in the 11th minute got a chance for a shot 11th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Eyserheide HC's goalie prevented a goal. After a rather tough play, Eyserheide HC's Timo van Dijk got a free kick in the 12th minute. In the 14thth minute of the game Giel Theissen who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Eyserheide HC's Ferdinant van Rooijen was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After a rather tough play, Hemelrijk HC's Jef de Boer got a free kick in the 19th minute. Giel Theissen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ferdinant van Rooijen having to interfere. Sebastiaan Taalman showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Falco Roeters, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. Hemelrijk HC's Sebastiaan Taalman proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 33rd minute of the match, managed to save Hemelrijk HC from getting a goal against them. 35 minutes into the game, Hemelrijk HC's Folkert Weerd nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ferdinant van Rooijen made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Jan-Joost van Zalingen charged in rather forcefully in the 43rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jan-Joost van Zalingen the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Eyserheide HC getting a freekick after 43 minutes play. Jan-Joost van Zalingen hit a great ball. Giel Theissen might have been able to make a better finish in the 45th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ferdinant van Rooijen. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Giel Theissen ran back to his position shaking his head. Marcel Zuid charged in rather forcefully in the 46th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Marcel Zuid the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. When Jan-Joost van Zalingen was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 48 minutes had been played. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 47th minute of the game. One of Eyserheide HC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Hemelrijk HC:s goal. The referee gave Hemelrijk HC a penalty, 50 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Joop Klein, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Eyserheide HC's Ferdinant van Rooijen. 1-2. After the first half Hemelrijk HC were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Giel Theissen to make the kick off. In the 58th match minute, Eyserheide HC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marcel Zuid to maneuver through the defense. Marcel Zuid received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Sebastiaan Taalman tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Folkert Weerd struck a weak shot in the 68th minute. Ferdinant van Rooijen didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Hemelrijk HC. Giel Theissen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 72 minutes into the match, Hemelrijk HC's Folkert Weerd sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ferdinant van Rooijen narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Giel Theissen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 76th minute. Ferdinant van Rooijen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 78th minute, Hemelrijk HC's Giel Theissen ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Ferdinant van Rooijen. Ferdinant van Rooijen yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-4. An unexpected shot in the 82nd minute by Giel Theissen got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Folkert Weerd struck a weak shot in the 83rd minute. Ferdinant van Rooijen didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Hemelrijk HC. Folkert Weerd sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Marcel Zuid sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 93rd minute, Marcel Zuid managed to get in a good position for a shot. Eyserheide HC's supporters rose to their feet, but Marcel Zuid was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Sebastiaan Taalman breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 98 minutes into the match, Eyserheide HC's goal looked a bit too open when Jef de Boer came free, but Ferdinant van Rooijen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Eyserheide HC's Maurits van Asten got a free kick in the 99th minute. In the 100th minute, Giel Theissen got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Hemelrijk HC walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
