The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Ivo Temen recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 4th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Fred Roswinkel struck a weak shot in the 8th minute. Jaap Brinke didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Hydaard HC. Jonathan Zoontjens charged in rather forcefully in the 9th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Hydaard HC's Sander Veldhuis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alwin van Asseldonk in the 11th minute of play. Zonnemaat's Jaap Brinke played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jonathan Zoontjens in the 12th minute of play. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fred Roswinkel couldn't finish the play. After 17 minutes, Mickael Boswijk mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Zonnemaat and the Hydaard HC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 18 played minutes Zonnemaat got a freekick which was hit by Mickael Boswijk. When Jonathan Zoontjens came up free with the goalie in the 19th minute, the Hydaard HC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jonathan Zoontjens couldn't finish the play. Jeroen Aalders who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 21stth minute tested the skills of Jaap Brinke when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Sander Veldhuis was a little too slow when Alwin van Asseldonk got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 55th minute. The score was now 0-1. After a rather tough play, Zonnemaat's Mickael Boswijk got a free kick in the 58th minute. 62 minutes into the game, Hydaard HC's Fred Roswinkel nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jaap Brinke made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. Jonathan Zoontjens received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Jan Lute kicked well hit freekick during the 72nd minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Hydaard HC's zone, Ivo Temen stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Sander Veldhuis came out of the goal and Ivo Temen tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Ivo Temen came up free with the goalie in the 76th minute, the Zonnemaat fans jumped to their feet. In the 81st match minute, Zonnemaat was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Serge Schulte to maneuver through the defense. If Ivo Temen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience was convinced that Fred Roswinkel's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jaap Brinke was relentless in the 91st minute of the game. When Alwin van Asseldonk fell near the penalty area in the 92nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Zonnemaat's protests and gave Alwin van Asseldonk a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Hydaard HC booed when Zonnemaat was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alwin van Asseldonk didn't get a good kick on the ball. 95 minutes had been played when some careless play by Zonnemaat's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Jan Bender was slow to take the kick. During this time Hydaard HC's players had a chance to rest. A nice corner shot did that Jan Bender got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Jaap Brinke quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
