Michel Ter sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 18th match minute, Maxelt HC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tomas Zondervan to maneuver through the defense. When %teams%'s Michel Ter was free in front of goal, he didn't hesitate to shoot 1-0 just inside the left pole, 19 minutes into the game. Giel Cohen was annoyed at himself for letting in the shot. Sjors Smits recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 22nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 24th minute Michel Ter shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Giel Cohen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sjors Smits scored 1-1 in the 29th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Bart Jochemsen, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Michel Ter succeeded in the game's 37th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 2-1. 41 minutes into the match, Maxelt HC's goalkeeper Giel Cohen had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Heiko Berends. Sjors Smits struck a weak shot in the 43rd minute. Bart Jochemsen didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Maxelt HC. If Karsten Reinders had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Giel Cohen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Michel Ter, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 48th match minute, Maxelt HC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dennis van Dalfsen to maneuver through the defense. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Niek Koekkoek made a kick off. Maxelt HC's Giel Cohen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Michel Ter in the 54th minute of play. In the 58th minute, Michel Ter left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Nieuwegein fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-1. Bart Jochemsen showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Niek Koekkoek in the 62nd minute of the match. Karsten Reinders sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a little luck, Nieuwegein's Bart Jochemsen got control of the ball when Sjors Smits tried to sneak it across the goal line. Jan van den Akker hit a great freekick 73 minutes into the match. Sjors Smits fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bart Jochemsen having to interfere. Niek Koekkoek struck a weak shot in the 82nd minute. Bart Jochemsen didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Maxelt HC. Peter Roordink's late challenge caught a Nieuwegein's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Peter Roordink helped the player get up and apologised. Peter Roordink hit a great freekick 90 minutes into the match. After 93 minutes Maxelt HC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Robbie Riemers who took care of the corner kick. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Nieuwegein had won after a very even match.
