Pieter Ruben sent away a hard shot on goal in the 6th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Niek Koekkoek was extremely unlucky when he, in the 16th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Sjors Smits blasted a shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Bram Rogaars having to make a save. The audience was convinced that Niek Koekkoek's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Bram Rogaars was relentless in the 19th minute of the game. Niek Koekkoek's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Bram Rogaars read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 21st minute of play. In the 22nd minute Niek Koekkoek shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bram Rogaars saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Bram Rogaars made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Niek Koekkoek in the 28th minute of play. Mark Post fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Giel Cohen having to interfere. Giel Cohen showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pieter Ruben in the 36th minute of the match. Peter Roordink charged in rather forcefully in the 37th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Peter Roordink the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Maxelt HC getting a freekick after 37 minutes play. Peter Roordink hit a great ball. If Mark Post had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Pieter Ruben to strike the kick off in the second half. Mark Post in the 52ndth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Giel Cohen, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Pieter Ruben sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpected shot in the 57th minute by Pieter Ruben got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. With a little luck, Maxelt HC's Giel Cohen got control of the ball when Mark Post tried to sneak it across the goal line. Giel Cohen was a little too slow when Pieter Ruben got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 63rd minute. The score was now 0-1. Bram Rogaars came out of the goal in the 70th minute to try and stop a shot by Maxelt HC's Niek Koekkoek. But to his dismay, Niek Koekkoek quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Giel Cohen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pieter Ruben, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Niek Koekkoek sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 76 minutes into the match, Maxelt HC's Niek Koekkoek sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Bram Rogaars narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Sjors Smits sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Niek Koekkoek received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 82nd minute. Bram Rogaars tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Wittem HC booed when Maxelt HC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 89 match minutes in a wonderful position. Peter Roordink didn't get a good kick on the ball. With an all-out effort, Wittem HC's Giel Cohen threw himself towards the right post 93 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Pieter Ruben, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Giel Cohen made an important save on a dangerous shot by Mark Post in the 95th minute. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
