Spectators: 34 (Terracing: 26, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Pepijn Akkerman started the match with the kick off. Thomas Kruis's late challenge caught a Krimpen's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Thomas Kruis helped the player get up and apologised. 11 minutes into the match, Krimpen's goalkeeper Gijs Owusu Abeyie had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Nathan Bemmel. A collision led to Krimpen getting a freekick after 11 minutes play. Teun Drent hit a great ball. A hard shot 15 in the game by Nathan Bemmel from a close distance when the talented Gijs Owusu Abeyie managed to make a qualified save. Krimpen's players were relieved. After a defensive mix-up in Krimpen's zone, Nathan Bemmel stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gijs Owusu Abeyie came out of the goal and Nathan Bemmel tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 23 played minutes, Mechelen's Matthijs Bulder shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Gijs Owusu Abeyie came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Mechelen reached it. In the 28th match minute, Mechelen was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Richard Spoel to maneuver through the defense. 29 minutes into the match, Krimpen's Olaf Kuys broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Rinus Kleine showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pepijn Akkerman in the 31st minute of the match. Rinus Kleine stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Gerrie Ranzijn's shot from short distance in the 32nd minute. After 34 minutes, Gerrie Ranzijn made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. Mechelen's Rinus Kleine tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. With a little luck, Krimpen's Gijs Owusu Abeyie got control of the ball when Nathan Bemmel tried to sneak it across the goal line. If Nathan Bemmel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Klaas Jan Meijer sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.

In the 59th minute Pepijn Akkerman shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rinus Kleine saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Rinus Kleine took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pepijn Akkerman, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 66 minutes in the game, Pepijn Akkerman fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Rinus Kleine having to interfere. When Teun Drent fell near the penalty area in the 72nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Krimpen's protests and gave Teun Drent a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Krimpen getting a freekick after 73 minutes play. Teun Drent hit a great ball. Teun Drent was shown his second yellow card after 77 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. Teun Drent kicked well hit freekick during the 78th minute of the match. In the 82nd minute, Klaas Jan Meijer got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Klaas Jan Meijer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 94 minutes into the match, Krimpen's goal looked a bit too open when Klaas Jan Meijer came free, but Gijs Owusu Abeyie reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
