In the 15th minute Bill Veltman shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Frits Boezem saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 16 minutes, Jordy Zomer managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Drempt's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jordy Zomer was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Gerrit van der Sar kicked well hit freekick during the 20th minute of the match. Mike Zuiverloon fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fernando Knopper having to interfere. Pascall Zon hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. Mike Zuiverloon recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 41st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Bill Veltman fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Frits Boezem having to interfere. Drempt's Frits Boezem proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 47th minute of the match, managed to save Drempt from getting a goal against them. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Mike Zuiverloon received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 59th minute. Fernando Knopper tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Drempt's Pierre Butter got a free kick in the 87th minute. When Roel Haar came up free with the goalie in the 88th minute, the Neerijnen HC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Roel Haar couldn't finish the play. After 92 minutes, Bill Veltman mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Neerijnen HC and the Drempt players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 93rd minute, Bill Veltman hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 94th minute, Mike Zuiverloon got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
