When Jan-Peter de Jong fell near the penalty area in the 6th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Aardenburg Eendracht's protests and gave Jan-Peter de Jong a yellow card for diving instead. Leon Klasen didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Neerijnen HC. Bill Veltman sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Leon Klasen showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bill Veltman in the 27th minute of the match. Roel Haar received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Leon Klasen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 51 played minutes Neerijnen HC got a freekick which was hit by Kristof Boekholt. 56 minutes into the game, Gerrit van der Sar was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Neerijnen HC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Aardenburg Eendracht the free kick. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Bertus van der Valk during the 57th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Adriaan Wermans shot the penalty kick right outside the post. In the 62nd of the match, Bill Veltman tried to place the ball in the upper right corner, but Leon Klasen got in the way and made a wonderful save. In the 68th minute, Roel Haar got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 76th minute, one of Aardenburg Eendracht:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Aardenburg Eendracht. Patrick Kuipers took the ball and in the 84 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Fernando Knopper. Fernando Knopper dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. Fernando Knopper made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Max Kregel in the 89th minute of play. During the 90th minute of the match Gerrit van der Sar completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Gerrit van der Sar a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. In the 91st match minute, Neerijnen HC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gerrit van der Sar to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 94th minute, Roel Haar managed to get in a good position for a shot. Neerijnen HC's supporters rose to their feet, but Roel Haar was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Leon Klasen breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Aardenburg Eendracht's Leon Klasen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Remond Roelfs in the 95th minute of play. Patrick Kuipers sent away a hard shot on goal in the 97th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
