The audience was convinced that Henk van Rhijn's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Geale Spiljard was relentless in the 3rd minute of the game. Hannenberg HC's Dolf Bok played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Koen Verhoeven in the 24th minute of play. Koen Verhoeven hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match. After the first half Westdorp were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Stijn Boschker to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 54th minute Stijn Boschker shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dolf Bok saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Koen Verhoeven's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Dolf Bok firmly grabbed it by the left post. A collision led to Hannenberg HC getting a freekick after 57 minutes play. Bertus Bult hit a great ball. In the 63rd minute Jelte Wibier shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Geale Spiljard saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Koen Verhoeven had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
