Sjef Ebbinge fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 5th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hans Oosterveld having to interfere. In the 11th minute Robbie Kooij shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hans Oosterveld saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jacques Boswijk kicked well hit freekick during the 16th minute of the match. If Jurre Reinhard had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 19 minutes into the match, Britsum's Jurre Reinhard sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Gert Wijnands narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Sjef Ebbinge received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Hans Oosterveld tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 24 minutes, Jacques Boswijk mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Hogebrug and the Britsum players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Britsum booed when Hogebrug was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jacques Boswijk didn't get a good kick on the ball. Daniel van Nieuwstadt charged in rather forcefully in the 26th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Daniel van Nieuwstadt the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Daniel van Nieuwstadt hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. Dirk Jan Ponk fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gert Wijnands having to interfere. Hans Oosterveld made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Robbie Kooij in the 32nd minute of play. After having played for 37 minutes, Robbie Kooij managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Hogebrug's supporters crossed their fingers, but Robbie Kooij was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Dirk Jan Ponk fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gert Wijnands having to interfere. Everyone was convinced a goal was close when Hogebrug's Robbie Kooij in the 43rd minute lifted the ball towards the upper right corner, but Hans Oosterveld was perfectly placed and prevented a goal for Britsum through an amazing save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jurre Reinhard in the 44th minute of play forced Hogebrug's goalkeeper Gert Wijnands to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 45th match minute, Britsum was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dries Blikman to maneuver through the defense.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jurre Reinhard was the one to do the kick off. Dirk Jan Ponk received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Gert Wijnands tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Robbie Kooij fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hans Oosterveld having to interfere. Gert Wijnands made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jurre Reinhard in the 62nd minute. When Jurre Reinhard fell near the penalty area in the 70th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Britsum's protests and gave Jurre Reinhard a yellow card for diving instead. In the 70th minute, Jurre Reinhard hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Dirk Jan Ponk received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Gert Wijnands tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 93 minutes of play, Britsum's Tonnie Zeevenhoven made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Gert Wijnands was left in no man's land by his defense there! Britsum played a much better game than Hogebrug and deserved their victory. The Hogebrug players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
