Wim Bogarde dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. In the 12th minute the ball was on its way in behind Fortmond's goalkeeper Harm Meier, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Adriaan Gasteren had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 15 minutes, Sipke Stam mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Weerestein SC and the Fortmond players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Fortmond booed when Weerestein SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sipke Stam didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 18th play minute Barry Kip came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Wim Bogarde. 2-0. Fortmond's Harm Meier played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Adriaan Gasteren in the 28th minute of play. Barry Kip received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Wim Bogarde tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Adriaan Gasteren struck a weak shot in the 41st minute. Harm Meier didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Weerestein SC. The audience thought a goal was coming when Barry Kip got free with Wim Bogarde in the 45th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.
52 minutes into the match, Fortmond's goalkeeper Harm Meier had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Adriaan Gasteren. The audience thought a goal was coming when Adriaan Gasteren got free with Harm Meier in the 55th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Wim Bogarde made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Barry Kip in the 57th minute of play. Adriaan Gasteren fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Harm Meier having to interfere. 65 minutes into the match, Weerestein SC's goal looked a bit too open when Foeke Koops came free, but Wim Bogarde reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Foeke Koops in the 69th minute of play forced Weerestein SC's goalkeeper Wim Bogarde to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Foeke Koops sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 77th minute, Geert Sloothaak managed to get in a good position for a shot. Weerestein SC's supporters rose to their feet, but Geert Sloothaak was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Harm Meier breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 78th match minute, Fortmond was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Robert Bernard to maneuver through the defense. 79 minutes into the match, Adriaan Gasteren had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Harm Meier. Fortmond's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Adriaan Gasteren was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. In the 96th minute Barry Kip shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wim Bogarde saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
