Dutch United FC's Mike Huiting played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Robin de Ridder in the 3rd minute of play. Robin de Ridder received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 5th minute. Mike Huiting tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 8 minutes into the match, Kurt Harmens notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Dutch United FC's Mike Huiting. Mike Huiting was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Frits Hofkamp hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. Rogier Winter sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 26 minutes, Jochem Moermans managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Rood Geel's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jochem Moermans was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 31st minute Kurt Harmens shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mike Huiting saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Robin de Ridder had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Robin de Ridder sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Mike Huiting showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jochem Moermans, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. When Jochem Moermans came up free with the goalie in the 43rd minute, the Rood Geel fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jochem Moermans couldn't finish the play. After the first half Rood Geel were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Robin de Ridder to strike the kick off in the second half. 0-2 became the score in the 52nd minute when Robin de Ridder elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. 61 minutes into the match, Dutch United FC's Rogier Winter sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Toni van Rijswijk narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Rood Geel's Frits Hofkamp got his second yellow card of the match in the 64th minute. The referee ordered Frits Hofkamp off the ground. The supporters of Dutch United FC booed when Rood Geel was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 65 match minutes in a wonderful position. Frits Hofkamp didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 76 minutes, Jochem Moermans managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Rood Geel's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jochem Moermans was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 78th minute, Robin de Ridder made a precise shot to the right of Mike Huiting. Dutch United FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3. Mike Huiting stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jochem Moermans's shot from short distance in the 84th minute. Jonathan Ploeger's late challenge caught a Rood Geel's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jonathan Ploeger helped the player get up and apologised. After 87 played minutes Dutch United FC got a freekick which was hit by Jonathan Ploeger. If Rogier Winter had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 1-3 became the score in the 92nd minute when Rogier Winter elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar.
