Erik Engbers showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Serge Schulte in the 31st minute of the match. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 42 minutes into the match, Willemsoord's goal looked a bit too open when Serge Schulte came free, but Erik Engbers reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Joost Piening kicked well hit freekick during the 46th minute of the match. Melik SV's Dirk Jan Snijders got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Henk Neeskens to strike the kick off in the second half. Serge Schulte received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Erik Engbers tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Joost Boelens struck a weak shot in the 56th minute. Erik Engbers didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Melik SV. After a defensive mix-up in Willemsoord's zone, Serge Schulte stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Erik Engbers came out of the goal and Serge Schulte tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 61stth minute of the game Henk Neeskens who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Melik SV's Wilfred Schuttrup was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Roland Planting received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 64th minute. Wilfred Schuttrup tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 68 played minutes Melik SV got a freekick which was hit by Damien Peeters. If Roland Planting had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 72 minutes into the match, Melik SV's goal looked a bit too open when Henk Neeskens came free, but Wilfred Schuttrup reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Melik SV's Wilfred Schuttrup played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Henk Neeskens in the 74th minute of play. Wilfred Schuttrup showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Henk Neeskens, who was totally free with the ball in the 75th minute. Joost Boelens fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Erik Engbers having to interfere. In the 83rd minute, Serge Schulte ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Erik Engbers was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. After 94 played minutes Melik SV got a freekick which was hit by Robin Cornelisse. Willemsoord's Roland Planting got a good chance for a goal in the 95th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.
