The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Bastiaan Tuhuteru fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 2nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pepijn Oosterman having to interfere. Ernest Rekers sent away a hard shot on goal in the 4th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to Tibben getting a freekick after 6 minutes play. Hubert Rooy hit a great ball. Johan Stroobos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 7th minute. Elroy Matthijs tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ernest Rekers sent away a hard shot on goal in the 9th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jean-Paul van der Stoel kicked well hit freekick during the 12th minute of the match. Ernest Rekers fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pepijn Oosterman having to interfere. 24 minutes into the match, Ernest Rekers notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Illicoven HC's Pepijn Oosterman. Pepijn Oosterman was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Illicoven HC's Dirk Wiersma got a good chance for a goal in the 41st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ernest Rekers fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pepijn Oosterman having to interfere. If Dirk Wiersma had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Johan Stroobos made a kick off. Johan Stroobos took the ball and in the 53 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Elroy Matthijs. Elroy Matthijs dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. After a defensive mix-up in Illicoven HC's zone, Ernest Rekers stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Pepijn Oosterman came out of the goal and Ernest Rekers tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 59 minutes into the game, Bastiaan Tuhuteru was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Tibben's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Illicoven HC the free kick. Bastiaan Tuhuteru hit a great freekick 59 minutes into the match. After having played for 60 minutes, Dirk Wiersma managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Illicoven HC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dirk Wiersma was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Johan Stroobos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 76th minute there was a penalty for Illicoven HC. Wilco Schoonderwoerd stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Elroy Matthijs. 2-1. Johan Stroobos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 82 played minutes Illicoven HC got a freekick which was hit by Mario Sanders. After having played for 85 minutes, Ernest Rekers managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Tibben's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ernest Rekers was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Anthony Planting fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pepijn Oosterman having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Johan Stroobos in the 94th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Elroy Matthijs prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 97th minute Johan Stroobos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Elroy Matthijs saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Illicoven HC had won after a very even match.
