Japke Drenth made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Kristof Meijs hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. Frans Schreuder didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Ernest van der Stoel went, in the 15th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. Japke Drenth made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Boukjan Grijp in the 20th minute of play. Franeker Spades's Japke Drenth played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Boukjan Grijp in the 22nd minute of play. In the 24th minute Wilfried Niekamp shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Japke Drenth saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Frans Schreuder took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jelle van Someren, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 32nd minute, Jan Veenhuis made a precise shot to the right of Japke Drenth.
